Recession? Apparently not in the elite entertainment circles! According to the numbers revealed by such sources as Forbes, MTV, and Parade Magazine, I don’t think anyone is complaining. Well... maybe with the exception of Donald Trump - Read on to find out why!
Traditionally, Oprah didn’t disappoint and topped the salary charts at $315 million. Her deceased friend and idol, Michael Jackson followed with a cool $275 million. James Cameron raked in over $210 million, while the universally gifted Tyler Perry and the “Transformers” producer Micheal Bay outranked other Hollywood big fish with $125 and $120 million respectively. The CSI producer, Jerry Bruckheimer as well as the legendary Steven Spielberg both earned $100 million, which put them slightly ahead of George Lucas, who brought home about $95 million.
Other top grossing big and small screen stars were: Johnny Depp ($100 million), Simon Cowell ($80 million), Dr. Phil McGraw ($80 million), Jerry Seinfeld ($75 million), Sandra Bullock ($56 million) , and Ellen DeGeneres ($55 million). Ryan Seacrest’s $51 million topped Donald Trump’s $50 million, while Judge Judy Sheindlin followed with $45 million. Charlie Sheen did earn $30 million last year, unfortunately he doesn’t seem to be able to handle it. Leonardo DiCaprio and his $28 million seems fine so far. However, none of the above are up to par with Tiger Wood’s $105 million!
The “Twilight” trio’s paychecks for 2010 are not too shabby either: Taylor Lautner - $33.5 million, Kristen Stewart - $28.5 million, and Robert Pattinson - $27.5 million. Meantime, the world’s top wizard, Daniel Radcliffe earned about $25 million.
In the music business, U2 continues to top the grossing charts with $130 million. One of the biggest surprises, the hard rock veterans AC/DC earned a whopping $114 million during their world tour, which translates into about $2.3 million a night! Other top grossers include: Beyonce - $87 million, Bruce Springsteen - $70 million, Britney Spears - $64 million, Jay-Z - $63 million, Lady Gaga - $62 million, Madonna - $58 million, Kenny Chesney (country) - $50 million, Miley Cyrus - $48 million, The Black Eyed Peas - $48 million, Coldplay - $48 million, Taylor Swift - $45 million.
Comedy goddess, Chelsea Handler closes the list with a mere $19 million.
