AOL browsers are set by default to use IMAGE COMPRESSION for viewing photographs and graphics. Although this helps display pages quicker, it also drastically reduces and distorts the quality of images (grainy, blurry and cartoony pictures). |

Turn OFF this feature following these very easy steps: |
| AOL 4.0 and up | AOL older versions | ||||

1. Click on "MY AOL" icon |

AOL 6.0 & 7.0 users click on "SETTINGS" |

2. Select and click on "Preferences" |

| 3. Go to "WWW" icon (INTERNET PROPERTIES) | |||||
| 4. In "AOL Internet Properties" select "WEB GRAPHICS" | |||||
| 5. Uncheck "USE COMPRESSED GRAPHICS" box | |||||
| AOL 6.0 & 7.0 select "Never Compress Graphics" | |||||
| 6. Click the "OK" button to close the window | |||||

Pages and images that you view on the Internet are temporarily stored on your computer in a special folder. In order to right away see improvement in the quality of pictures that you have already recently viewed , you must first delete those pages from the computer's memory. Here's how to do it: |

1. Click on "MY AOL" icon - AOL 6.0 and up users click on "SETTINGS" |

|
2. Select and click on "Preferences" |
|||||
|
3. Go to "WWW" icon |
|||||
|
4. In "AOL Internet Properties" select "GENERAL" |
|||||
| 5. Under "Temporary Internet Files" click on "DELETE FILES" | |||||
| 6. Wait ! Deleting may take a few seconds... | |||||
| 7. Click the "OK" button to close the window | |||||
